On January 1, SGI Canada celebrated 2018, “Year of Brilliant Achievement in the New Era of Worldwide Kosen-rufu,” from Vancouver Island to the Atlantic coast. The spirit of challenging our goal of reaching 10,000 practitioners by November was evident in the happy, high-spirited presentations.
Each meeting heard an encouraging message titled, "Raise the Banner of Brilliant Achievement and Open the Way to a Peaceful Future" sent by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda in which he emphasized the banner of conviction, banner of peace and the eternal banner of youth.
Youth played a prominent role in these meetings, leading the chanting, sharing personal experiences, reading messages, emceeing and supporting cultural performances.
The practitioners of SGI Canada were eager to start the new year by refreshing their practice of Buddhism and make determinations for the coming year. With record attendance across Canada and many new practitioners officially joining SGI Canada, the meetings were full of joy and eager determination to make 2018 a time for personal growth and sharing this philosophy of life with others.
